Italy / Puglia / Porto Cesareo / 2009 / The entry gate to an unoccupied, run down Masseria - medieval fortified farmhouse - near the town of Nardo. Typically they comprise a walled enclosure with farmhouse at the front, workers quarters, barns and horsestables, equipment and grain storage within. Scattered across the countryside of Puglia, there are many such masseria.
